Today's Auction Outing

So, today I dragged Rich to my first ever auction. It was in Sulphur Springs about an hour and a half away and I was really excited! I had my eye on a few pieces, but I really wanted this Persian kitten sign. I don't know why, but the kitten just looked too cute! So, the auctioneer started bidding. Mine was like #186. I had a WAY to go! I liked other pieces too, but I really only brought like $200 to spend and I did not want to spend it all before my item. They had so much! I have heard it depends what auction you go to on the price and this must have been a fancy one- although it was in an old barn thing. They had a lot of old carnival pieces that were so cool, but once they started going for $1600 I thought that this may not be the place for me. But, we bought a piece of chocolate pie to share and waited...and waited. You know, those guys talk fast, but this was an ordeal. One piece of furniture sold for $6500! It took a few hours to get to mine. FINALLY! Mine was up! The auctioneer started the bidding at $50. I bid. Then, 75. Again, I bid! Then, it went to 100! Going once, going twice! SOLD! To me!!!! Just as I tried to high five Rich, he began laughing...WHAT? I asked him... He then informed me that both guys were watching me raise my hand at the front and I actually bid $75 for the auctioneer and then $100 to the owner. I had outbid MYSELF! I could have bought it for $75, but I got too excited! Oops. Oh well. I still won! :-)
