I LOVE old. I think I am an old soul. AND- I love to collect things in sets. But, sometimes, collections can get overwelming and you need to find a new way to showcase them. Last year, I was really into vintage pins and brooches. I wore them all the time- on coats, hats, belts..etc. But, after a while I had so many, it was hard to keep up and of course, I couldn't wear them all at once! I was searching online for my wedding when I came across an AMAZING idea! Vintage brooch bouquets! Wow, what a cool concept I had never seen before! I saw that having one made could cost a fortune, but I liked the idea of having something like this forever. So, I called my mom and she set out looking for more. (I heard you needed like 70). Then I called Ann, Rich's mom and she told me she thought that Rich's uncle Les could probably help! And was she right! I started collecting pins (trying not to spend more than $15 for each) but of course some were more, some less. My uncle Ed helped too (buying a bunch of enamel ones on Ebay). You need both big flower pins and little sparkly pieces. Les ended up spray painting some of the enamel ones, because the colors were not right for my theme, but WOW! I also added a few personal items. My aunt Toni's bee pin, my grandmother's name on an old pearl heart, along with Rich's mom's and grandmother's name. My mom gave me a ladybug pin (for luck) and I added her to the bottom, underneath so she could crawl. I had a cool turkey (for Thanksgiving time), a key (to Rich's heart) and my uncle Ed found me a bluebird of happiness.
On my wedding day, this sparkled so well! It was super, super heavy so I had to put it down often, but it was such a special piece. It is something that I will always have. I now keep it in a glass vase on my nightstand.
You like? And, no I did not toss that bouquet. Come on, I might knock someone out!
